“Sedges have edges, rushes are round…”
Sedges are a type of graminoid (grass-like plant). Graminoids include sedges, rushes, and grasses. There is a rhyme to help you learn the difference: “sedges have edges, rushes are round, grasses have nodes all the way to the ground.” When you feel the base of these plants, you’ll find that sedges have triangular stems, rushes have round stems, and you’ll see that grasses have nodes (joints) along the stems.
